Do dogs really hate getting a bath? Well, judging from the reactions of our Frenchies and the many videos of dogs actively resisting getting in the tub, I’d say that as a general rule, they do. I have a strong feeling that even dogs that generally enjoy the water, like Labrador Retrievers, Newfoundlands, Poodles, and Otterhounds, may well balk at a water bath. From the way some dogs carry on when they know a bath is in the offing, you’d think they were being taken to the veterinarian! All dogs require a water bath regularly, but with Lil Luv Dog, you may well be able to stretch out the time between baths by using their dry shampoos.
While Lil Luv Dog shampoos are not designed to replace an actual water bath, they can certainly extend the time before the next tussle begins. You may well be able to extend the time between water baths for up to two weeks. Unlike many dry dog shampoos, Lil Luv Dog uses natural, gentle ingredients to clean y our dog’s coat. You won’t find any harsh chemicals that could irritate your dog’s skin or cause an allergic reaction.

Why Dogs Need Shampooing
Every breed of dog has an oily coat to one degree or another. Under normal circumstances, the oil produced by the dog’s skin helps to keep the skin protected and flexible. Oil spreads out to the coat to keep it healthy and weather-resistant. Oil is necessary for the health of your dog’s skin and coat. However, problems can arise when you have a breed that does have an oilier than normal coat, or when skin and coat problems arise. An oily coat can certainly contribute to the infamous ‘doggy odor’. Our Frenchies have an oily coat, but their odor is very mild, especially when compared with the Dachshunds of a nearby friend. Besides normal skin oils, dogs’ coats can become odorous and dull from other reasons:
-
Primary seborrhea is condition that can affect any breed of dog, but will be more commonly seen in dogs which have oily coats to begin with such as many Spaniel breeds, Retrievers, and Basset Hounds. Primary seborrhea is an inherited disorder and it occurs because the sebaceous (oil) glands produce more oil than is needed to condition the coat and skin. Because Lil Luv Dog shampoos are so gentle, you can use them whenever you wish.
-
Seborrhea can also result from conditions existing on the dog’s skin, such as infections, parasites, allergies, or even obesity. Dogs who have wrinkles anywhere on their bodies, such as French or English Bulldogs, Shar Pei, Griffons, or English Toy Spaniels can be prone to secondary seborrhea. Any problem with the skin should be seen by a vet, but helping to keep the coat and skin clean with Lil Luv Dog dry shampoos will remove excess oils before they become smelly.
It will not only the olfactory sense that might be offended by an oily, dirty coat on your dog, but also your furniture. I’m sure that, like we have done, most dog owners allow their dogs up onto their furniture, including their bed. A dog with a dirty coat is going to spread oil and dirt onto chairs, couches, and beds. If you have a separate bed for your dog, this can also become soiled and smelly. Using a dry shampoo will also be less likely to dry out the skin and coat, which can trigger the sebaceous glands to become too active and produce even more oil.
This Is What Responsibility Looks Like
Providing great dry shampoo for your dog is not the only goal of Lil Luv Dog, this is a firm that takes their responsibilities seriously. One of the biggest problems facing the environment today is plastic waste; we all know our oceans and landfills are choking on plastic. Materials that produce as little waste as possible are used in all their products. And this doesn’t just pertain to packaging, it also encompasses using sustainable suppliers as well.
All of us who love dogs are pained when we see or hear about dogs forced to live on the streets. This is a problem in every country on earth. To help deal with this problem, Lil Luv Dog is involved with the Labelle Foundation in Los Angeles. This organization is dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership, as well as helping rescue dogs find homes.
