One of the biggest nightmares dog owners have is that their dog will get lost forever. It almost happened to us with Pip. He used to like to go out to the woods with my husband while he cut wood. Pip loved the sound of the chainsaw and enjoyed the wood chips falling on him. One day when my husband was stacking the wood he had cut, Pip evidently heard a chainsaw off in the distance and headed for it. When my husband turned around, Pip was gone. We searched all over the woods, and finally I decided to go up the road to see if he was there. As I was walking, I saw a car coming and flagged it down. I asked if they had seen a sort of odd-looking red dog. Fortunately, the boy in the backseat said he had seen a red dog at a deserted house, next to an old van.
I knew the place the boy was talking about, thanked him, and headed there fast. Sure enough, there was Pip, stacked on a cinder block next to the old van. He was always a vehicle lover. Fortunately, he went to a vehicle for help. He was so scared that he wouldn’t leave the van to come to me, I had to go fetch him. He was a big Frenchie, so I could only carry him part of the way, and we were a bushed pair when we got home. How I wish that we had had a Fi Series 3+ collar then then. It sure would have made it much easier to go collect the rascal.
We always kept a sharp eye on our French Bulldogs when they were outside, but they, like every dog, will sometimes wander off, like Pip. Let’s face it, they all have a naughty streak in them. All you have to do is turn your back for a second and they can be gone. Needless to say, we kept a much closer eye on all of them after that. The Fi Series 3+ app helps you keep track of your dog, both as regards location and health.
We had even caught Pip and Mouseish hiding behind trees to try to fool us. We have so many wild animals around here like bears, coyotes, wolves, bobcat, and lynx that we definitely didn’t want them wandering off on their own. Frenchies are brave little dogs, but there is no way they could stand up to some of our ‘neighbors’
Pinpointing Your Dog’s Location
While we all try to make certain that our dogs are safe and where we want them to be, situations can arise when the unforeseen occurs. Just look at what happened with Pip, a back was turned and a dog took off. Sometimes a dog will dart out when a door is opened, or a leash will break. Male dogs who catch the scent of a female in heat can also run away in search of her. There are so many things that can happen that we never expected that it makes sense to get your dog a Fi GPS Collar. Your dog might be micro-chipped, and that can help a lot if your dog is picked up and finds his or her way to an animal shelter. However, a microchip only works if it’s read, whereas Fi provides a collar that sends a signal directly to you.

Being able to find your missing dog will relieve a lot of anxiety for both you and your dog. Most dogs become frightened once they realize that they are lost; the Fi GPS Collar will help you find them fast.
-
The All-In-One App is needed in order for your collar to provide location information and health monitoring. Plans are available for everything from one month up to 2 years. This APP allows you to monitor your dog through your cell phone. This is a real convenience that will take a lot of the worry out of going outside with your dog.
-
Should the worst happen, and your dog gets lost, the Fi Collar will help institute a search party to look for your vagabond. Neighbors and family can also be included in the loop to provide extra support should it be needed.
Hunting dogs are often placed in unfamiliar situations. This increases the chance that they might become lost, especially if the hunt is a long one. Of course, most dogs find their way back to their masters, or never get out of sight, but the unexpected can occur. Finding a lost dog that is both a companion and hunting partner can be much easier when using the Fi Series 3+ Collar and GPS APP.
Monitoring Your Dog’s Health
Whistle has taken dog care a step farther by making it possible for you to use your dog’s Fi Collar to keep track of his or her health. Most dogs do develop some health problems as they go through life, just like people do. The problem is, there is almost no way for your pooch to tell you what’s wrong. Usually we only find out once the condition has gotten serious. Our Frenchies were pretty stoic, so sometimes a condition would ‘sneak’ in without us knowing it. This would usually mean a panicked trip to the vet.
How much easier it would have been if we had been able to tell whether something was wrong before it reached critical mass. The Fi Series 3+ Collar is great not only for keeping track of your dog, but also for monitoring certain conditions:
-
Allergies, especially food and skin allergies can be watched by this collar. You might get a warning if an allergic condition is starting to ‘explode’.
-
Obesity can seriously affect a dog’s life. If you see that Fido is starting to put on a few pounds, this Fi Collar will let you know and you can cut back on the food and treats and provide more exercise.
-
You can also have your vet in the loop to stay on top of your dog’s physical health. This can help alert your dog’s caretaker when a problem is still at the easy to treat stage.
-
This APP also provides a daily Wellness Score to help you make sure all is going well.
To complete the picture, Fi offers a huge range of ‘regular’ collars to allow you to have some variety for your dog. Check out the Series 3/3+ Charging Base which provides utility for your dog’s collar wherever you are. This way you can have one on the collar and one charging with the Whistle USB Charging Cable.
Does Your Dog Need a Little Something Extra?
Are you concerned that your dog might need a little something extra? Maybe your Poodle or Bichon seems just a little off, not quite the pooch they once were? Fi has a line of supplements designed to help your dog handle health and life more easily.
-
To give you pal a general boost, try 8-In-One Formula. Sprinkle right on your Border Collie’s dinner to provide support for nearly every part of his or her body.
-
Does your French Bulldog exhibit separation anxiety? Or does your Yellow Lab get a bit antsy when going to the vet? Maybe Fi’s Calming supplement will help level out those nerve-provoking times.
-
Older dogs, and certain breeds like the Saint Bernard or Pug, are more prone to having pain in their joints. In addition to a comfy bed, a supplement like Fi HIP & JOINT might help. The cushioning between joints, cartilage, can wear down over time, this supplement could be useful in supporting this important part of the joints.
-
Is there any dog that has never experienced a skin and/or joint problem? Our Frenchies, happily, never had too many issues in this area, but if you have a Boxer, German Shepherd, or a Labrador Retriever, you might be all too familiar with these problems. The answer might lie in Fi SKIN & COAT supplement. Zinc and fatty acids might bring a positive change to your dog’s coat and skin.
Rather than having to struggle with shoving a pill down your dog’s throat, all Fi health supplements can just be mixed in with your dog’s food – he or she will probably never be aware of them. Fi uses natural ingredients to provide additional support for your dog’s health and well-being. Be sure to sign up for the Fi bi-monthly newsletter, too.
